Here's a brief recap of some of the changes that have been made. The purpose of many of these changes is to prepare our fleet for growth as we clear Tier 2, and begin our climb to Tier 3 bases.
We've got new ranks with new powers and responsibilities. Here they are...
Ensign (Warrior) - This is the rank for all new recruits. Ensigns can make deposits in the bank, but not withdrawals. The only requirement for an Ensign to become a Lieutenant is for him or her to introduce themselves on The Sacred Realm (This will necessitate meeting and conversing with at least one fleet member to get an invite into our main chat channel, and is a basic security precaution)
Lieutenant - Has basic privileges. Can withdraw 5,000 EC from the bank per day, and a few items from each repository (the number depends on each repository). Lieutenants can invite new fleet members, but cannot promote these new recruits. Lieutenants can be promoted to Commander by contributing 50,000 Fleet Credits to the fleet.
Commander - Has moderate privileges. Can withdraw 50,000 from the bank per day. Commanders can promote Ensigns to Lieutenants - the Ensign in question need only make contact with the Commander, receive an invite to The Sacred Realm, and announce their presence in that chat channel. Once the Ensign does so, the Commander will promote him or her. Commanders can be promoted to Captain if the Commander contributes 100,000 Fleet Credits to the fleet AND is recommended and voted up by the Vice Admirals and Admirals. This voting will occur right here on the forums in the Vice Admiral board.
Captain - Has high privileges, and is a post earned through earning the trust and respect of the senior staff (in short, make yourself known in the chat channels, join us in missions, participate on the forums, and you'll be promoted). Captains can withdraw 500,000 from the bank per day. Captains can promote Lieutenants to Commanders if that Lieutenant has contributed 50,000 Fleet Credits to the fleet. Captains can be promoted to Vice Admiral by submitting a proposal for a new Fleet Role that they would like to fulfill to one of the Admirals or the Fleet Admiral. Once this new Fleet Role is accepted, the Captain will be promoted, and will be expected to perform their new role as a Vice Admiral.
Vice Admiral (Major General) - Has unlimited bank privileges. Will be expected to vote on Captain promotions. Has access to "The Sages" fleet admin cross-faction chat channel. Has access to the Vice Admiral board on the forums. Vice Admirals have roles within the fleet that they play (Recruitment Officer, Moderator, Bank Master, Tailor, etc). Failure to maintain that role may result in a demotion to Captain and that role becoming available to the current pool of Captains. Vice Admirals can set fleet messages, act as admins in The Sacred Realm or Sacred Realm RP, can edit events, edit bank repositories, edit recruiting info, etc. Vice Admirals have the ability to demote any lower ranking officer back to Ensign if it should become necessary, pending a discussion among all of the Vice Admirals and Admirals regarding the status of the officer in question. Vice Admirals may not kick someone from the fleet.
Admiral (General) - Must be appointed to the rank directly by the Fleet Admiral. Can step in and fill the role of Fleet Admiral if the Fleet Admiral is away. Can manage fleet projects/provisions. May be called upon to vote to demote a Vice Admiral. Can call for and lead Fleet Meetings. Has the power to permanently kick from the fleet.
Fleet Admiral (King of Evil) - Possesses veto power over Vice Admiral and Admiral promotion decisions. May demote any officer for any reason (including Admirals and Vice Admirals). Acts as tie-breaking vote in Vice Admiral board on the forum. Possesses additional abilities as mysterious as they are powerful and as powerful as they are mysterious.
In addition, we've limited the number of chat channels in the fleet to three. Any additional intra-fleet channels will require approval by the Admirals. The three channels are...
The Sacred Realm - Our cross-faction chat channel for Triforce of Courage and Triforce of Power. For general chatting, setting up teams, asking questions, etc.
Sacred Realm RP - Our role playing chat channel managed by @rovakiin. To receive an invite and participate, send her a PM.
The Sages - Our admin chat channel for those Vice Admiral and above. Fleet administration issues will be discussed here.
Lastly, I had a few requests for everyone....
1. Go forth and recruit! If you meet someone in the trenches on Nukara or Defera, or on the dance floor on Drozana or Nimbus, send them an invite! We do not encourage recruitment through "random recruitment" in Zone chat in sector space or through totally random PMs.
2. Get those data samples! Don't pass up a chance to pick these up. Get out those tricorders in story missions. Scan those anomalies in the star clusters at the edge of explored space. We'll need all we can get to finish the science projects that will carry us to Tier 3.
3. Go back to school! Visit the Academy every day, if you don't already, and pick up all of the Duty Officers that you can. Every single assignment that will build us toward Tier 3 will require Duty Officers. Pick them up and send them to our growing starbase.
(These were my notes for the meeting - this does not include some of the comments made by the Vice Admirals, so if you guys feel like I'm leaving out something important, please post it in the comments)
