Hey everyone! I'm here to let everyone know that I am not gone, but in fact I am out cruising the galaxy... albeit in a very different fashion than a Starfleet vessel. My fiance has introduced me to an open world spaceflight simulator called Elite: Dangerous - and I've fallen in love with it. (I even get to use a flight stick for a controller!) Think of it like... Skyrim's open world meets Space in the year 3300. It's awesome and you can do anything and go anywhere.
True to my form I've leveled up with the more obscure Imperial faction in the game - Their ships are gloriously elegant compared to designs by the standard manufacturers. I'm currently an Imperial Baron, and I just yesterday purchased my first true imperial vessel. Thought I'd share some pics and then add more as I continue my journey across the Milky way and it's 400 billion systems.
So here goes. Maybe you can help me name her?
My Clipper in the hangar aboard Lave Starport:
One can't actually appreciate how big this ship is without some sort of sense of scale... so this is a shot of the engines/nacelles from the height that an adult human would be standing at on the hangar deck.
Exited the hangar and ascended to the departures/arrivals level. Gravity here is lower inside the orbiting starports, so they actually rotate in space to simulate earth gravity.
Readying for takeoff.
The interior of my ship is quite luxurious. Sadly, my co-pilot chair is empty. I need a crew!
Having departed Lave Station, I do a flyby of the planet before setting course for a neighboring Star called Leesti.
Arrived at Leesti after a 3.96 light year jump. I have to keep my distance from the star. Even at this distance my ship could overheat without proper shielding!
